UEFA has published the calendar of European club tournaments in 2024. The next season will start on 18 June with the draw for the first qualifying rounds in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
Photo: uefa.comFor Ukraine, the European season starts on 19 June, when the pairs of the second qualifying round of the Champions League and the second qualifying round of the Conference League will be formed. The first matches for our representatives at these stages are scheduled for 23-25 July.
In total, five clubs will represent Ukraine in the European competitions.
The winner of the Ukrainian league will get a ticket to the play-offs of the Champions League qualifying round (but if Shakhtar win the title, they may go straight to the main draw under certain circumstances). There is only one stage to the Champions League group, and if our champion fails, he will be placed in the Europa League group.
The club that wins the silver medal will qualify for the second qualifying round of the CL. To get into the CL group, it will need to overcome the resistance of three opponents. In the event of failure at any stage, our representative will move on to the Europa League, but to the group stage only if it defeats at least one opponent in the CL, otherwise it will have to qualify for the Europa League.
One club will represent Ukraine in the Europa League - in the third qualifying round. Either the Cup winner or the UPL bronze medallist will have this right. In case of failure in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers, they will automatically move to the Conference League, but only if they defeat at least one opponent in the UEFA Europa League.
The country will have two delegates in the basic register of the Conference League. The third UPL team (or the fourth, depending on the situation in the Ukrainian Cup) and the fourth (or fifth) will start in the second qualifying round. Thus, our clubs will have to beat three opponents to get to the main LC grid.
It should be added that 36 clubs will play in the group rounds of all three European competitions.
The biggest change will be the transition from the traditional group stage to a single league stage that includes all participating teams. Now, in the Champions League, each club will be guaranteed at least eight matches in the league stage against eight different opponents (four home and four away), rather than the previous six matches against three teams, played home and away. The top eight teams in the league will automatically qualify for the play-offs, while the teams ranked ninth to 24th will compete in a two-match play-off to secure their place in the last 16.
Similar format changes will also be applied to the Europa League (eight matches in the league stage) and the Conference League (six matches in the league stage).
The 7th and 8th rounds of the UCL and the Europa League will take place in January 2025. The LC will end with the sixth round in December.

TheUPL champion will start in the play-off round (or in the group tournament).
The draw is on 5 August (or 29 August), the matches are on 20/21 and 27/28 August (or the start is on 17-19 September).
TheUPL vice-champion will start in the second qualifying round.
The draw is on 19 June, the matches are on 23/24 and 30/31 July.
Europa League.
The winner of theUkrainian Cup (the third team of the UPL ) will start in the third qualifying round.
Draw - 22 July, matches - 8 and 15 August.
Conference League
Thethird (fourth) UPL team will start in the second qualifying round.
Draw - 19 June, matches - 25 July and 1 August.
