Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Justin Lonwijk, who last Friday moved on loan to Dutch Fortuna, had a chance to make his debut for his new team yesterday, but it did not happen.
The 24-year-old was not included in the application form of Fortuna for the match of the 18th round of the championship of the Netherlands with Almere City. It is likely that this is due to the fact that the match was an away game for Lonwijk's team, and the Fortuna delegation probably travelled to the venue on Friday, when the transfer of the Dynamo player just took place.
However, even if Lonwijk was involved in yesterday's match, he would not have made his debut for Fortuna on that day. The fact is that shortly before the starting whistle, part of the pitch at Almere was deemed unsuitable for the game due to its frozen condition. As it turned out, it was due to the failure of one of the heating pipes, which provided artificial heating of the field.
Lonwijk will have his next opportunity to make his debut for Fortuna in a week's time, when his team will play (again away) in the Dutch league against Volendam.
