Cameroon's head coach Rigobert Song did not include Andre Onana in the starting eleven for the team's decisive 3-2 African Cup of Nations group stage match against Gambia.
Onana flew directly from Manchester to Côte d'Ivoire, and the club even chartered a private jet to bring him to the competition, but he was absent from the first game of the tournament. Cameroon drew with Guinea 1-1 and then lost to Senegal, where Onana conceded three goals after making a terrible mistake in one of the episodes.
In the match against Gambia, the goalkeeper of the French Nîmes, Fabrice Ondoa, who is actually Onana's cousin, took the place in goal.
After playing 3 rounds in Quartet C, Cameroon secured a place in the next stage of the tournament with 4 points.
