Ingulets president Oleksandr Povorozniuk shared his opinion on the changes in the Ukrainian national team under its current head coach Serhiy Rebrov.
- Under Rebrov, the national team has become completely different. The same Pikhalenok and some other players are now in the squad, it seems that no one needed them under the previous coaches.
We're used to Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko being the only ones in the team. But for Rebrov, there are no cool, blatant, grey or white players. He only has a person who plays football well. And this is a huge plus. Everyone sees that under Rebrov, any footballer from the Ukrainian championship, any Ukrainian, can get into the national team. If he plays well. This is very encouraging.
And the fact that Rebrov can develop players is also a big plus. The fact that he has coaching talent is a definite plus. I believe he is the best coach in Ukraine.
- Under Petrakov or other coaches, did players get into the squad not on the basis of sporting ability?
- In my opinion, it happened. Some players play well and are not included in the squad. And Konoplyanka was called up to the national team without any practice at his club, where he came on as a substitute twice. I think this is unfair to the rest of the players.
