Roman Kulkov, the first coach of Real Madrid's new goalkeeper Ilya Voloshin, spoke about his pupil's main virtues.

At the age of six, when Ilya came to his first training session, he admitted that he loved Real Madrid and was in awe of the team's goalkeeper, Keylor Navas. Voloshin has a great chance of making it to the senior team and becoming a worthy competitor to Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin. He is no worse than them, and even stronger.
In fact, he does not make big mistakes. His trump card is not only reliable goal defence, but also the fact that he knows how to start his team's attacks. Ilya has a unique pass. It is similar to that of Shakhtar defender Yaroslav Rakitskiy. Voloshin is left-handed, and most of his unique passes are made with his left foot, but his right foot is also strong. When Ilya has the opportunity to pass to many partners, he passes to the one who is able to develop the sharpest attack. And it is worth noting Voloshin's height - 202 centimetres. It cannot be said that Voloshin moved to Spain because of the war in Ukraine. At the time of the full-scale invasion, Ilya was in Zakarpattia, training at the academy of the Munkach football club. There, his talent was noticed by selectors and he was offered a move to Spain. And all because Ilya was the strongest. Wherever he played, he was always the strongest: even at our children's sports school in Novomoskovsk, where he trained with the older boys. He was the strongest among his peers both at Inter and at FC Dnipro, where he moved to after the seventh grade. Voloshin has settled in well in Spain, he learnt Spanish within a year, so we should expect great achievements from him," said the coach.
