Marmusch opened the scoring for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 27th minute. However, Freiburg quickly responded with a goal from R. Doan in the 30th minute to level the score. In the 35th minute, Eintracht Frankfurt regained the lead thanks to a goal by A. Knauff, and in the 45th minute, Freiburg were awarded a penalty, which was successfully converted by V. Grifo, making the score 2-2 at half-time. The second half continued the entertaining programme: in the 72nd minute, Eintracht Frankfurt took the lead again thanks to A. Knauff's second goal of the match.
In the 77th minute, Freiburg made several substitutions in an attempt to turn the tide: M. Gregoric, K. Sildillia and N. Weishaupt were replaced by L. Holer, J. Keitel and J. Makengo. In the last minutes of the match Freiburg managed to equalise the score in the 90th minute when M. Gregoric scored a goal, giving his team a tough draw. In the last minutes of the match both teams made substitutions: Freiburg had R. Sallai instead of M. Philipp, and Eintracht Frankfurt had M. Götze and O. Marmusch replaced by S. Rohde and J. Dina Eina. Rode and J. Dina Ebimbe respectively. For Eintracht, F. Chaibi replaced H. Ekitike in the 90th minute, while P. Max replaced N. Nkunku. In general, the match between Freiburg and Eintracht was very interesting, both teams demonstrated their attacking skills and their desire to get three points. As a result, a 3-3 draw was a fair result for both sides.
