Former Spartak Moscow and USSR national team player Evgeny Lovchev gave an eloquent assessment of the dismal state of affairs in Russian football, which is not needed by anyone in the civilised world.

"It's been a long time since any club in Russia has grown anyone. Have you seen Zenit's pupils anywhere? Or at Dynamo? There are practically none. Now everyone buys someone, and those who become noticeable," Sport24 quoted Lovchev as saying.
