Arsenal fans are jubilant after Jakub Kivior's brilliant performance in last Saturday's 5-0 win over Burnley. The defender, who replaced the injured Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko, not only impressed on the left flank of the defence but also scored a goal.
Якуб КивиорDespite previous problems this season, Kivior's recent performances have drawn comparisons to Zinchenko and praise from fans.
On social media, fans have expressed their admiration and relief at the club's decision not to sell Kiviora:
"He is better than Zinchenko";
"Very glad we didn't sell or loan him out in January. He is a quality footballer";
"What a footballer!";
"He should be our left-back until he gets injured";
"He is better than Zinchenko, including in assists";
"It's clear now that Kivior is our most underrated player";
"Solid in the last few games. He looks much more confident than Zinchenko when playing with the ball and when playing one-on-one".
We would add that Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has made tactical adjustments to better utilise Kivior's skills. Tho was initially used as an inverted defender, but he now plays a more traditional left-back role as he is comfortable in a central midfield role. This transition has led to an improvement in the defender's game.
