Polish Arka head coach Wojciech Lobodziński has commented on the club's decision to invite former Dynamo Kyiv defender Volodymyr Kostevych, who last took part in an official match almost four years ago, in the summer of 2020, for a viewing.
"First the viewing and tests, and only then the decision - that was my condition. The fact that Kostevic was a player of a very high, even representative level, is one thing, but the other is that he hasn't played for a very long time. We can't afford to sign a player who hasn't played football for several years. With all due respect, we won't take a cat in a bag.
But we need a left-footed player right now. That's why we decided to take such a step as inviting Kostevic to watch. But nothing has been decided yet. I have no doubt that Kostevic will cope with everything that concerns tactics, but the main question is whether he can cope physically. Let's be honest, he won't be playing 90 minutes in a fortnight. But he should be 100 per cent ready to play 20-30 minutes in the very near future. This readiness must be immediate, we will definitely not wait for him for two months," Polish publication wyborcza.pl quoted Lobodziński as saying.
