In a much-anticipated Bundesliga match, Heidenheim faced Eintracht Frankfurt at the Voigt Arena. At halftime the score was 0:1 in favour of Eintracht, the goal was scored in the 39th minute as a result of a goal by Heidenheim player B. Gimber. The second half saw a tense battle between the teams, and in the 49th minute Eintracht increased their lead thanks to a goal by N. Nkounkou. However, Heidenheim fought back and managed to score their own goal in the 59th minute thanks to a goal by M. Piringer. There were several yellow cards in the match: in the first half, Eintracht players J. Dina Ebimbe and R. Piringer were cautioned. Dina Ebimbe and R. Koch, and in the 62nd minute - Heidenheim player E. Dinci.
Both teams made strategic substitutions in the course of the game: at half-time Eintracht Frankfurt released H. Larsson and P. Max on the pitch, and then replaced R. Koch, O. Marmusch and A. Knauff. FC Heidenheim also made substitutions, releasing N. Theuerkauf, K. Sessa, M. Busch and S. Schimmer to try and turn the tide of the match in their favour. Towards the end of the match the tension in the team increased: H. Ekitike and K. Trapp received yellow cards in the 77th and 86th minutes respectively. As a result, Eintracht managed to hold on to their lead and won 1-2. Overall, it was a tense match between Heidenheim and Eintracht, in which both teams showed their skill and determination on the pitch.
