At the start of the second half, Bologna wasted no time in making changes to the squad: R. Orsolini and S. Posh replaced A. Salemaekers and J. Zirksee, levelling the score 1:1. The substitutions were justified almost immediately, when on 57 minutes a penalty was awarded to Atalanta, which was converted by J. Zirksee. "Bologna" continued to go forward and their efforts were rewarded in the 61st minute when L. Ferguson scored, making the score 2:1. Atalanta tried to get back into the game by making a few substitutions, but were never able to equalise. As a result, Bologna defeated Atalanta with a score of 2-1. This match demonstrated the competitive nature of Serie A football and emphasised the importance of strategic changes to influence the outcome of the game.
