On the morning of 5 March, the UAF sent letters to the clubs with a list of players called up to the Ukrainian national team for the March matches, but with a request that the club media not publish this data on their resources until the official announcement of the Blue and Yellows' application on the official website of the Ukrainian Football Association.

However, Shakhtar decided to announce the call-up of a number of Donetsk players (Mykola Matvienko, Valeriy Bondar, Yukhym Konoplya, Oleksandr Zubkov, Heorhiy Sudakov and Danylo Sikan) to the national team in advance.

Earlier, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine published on its official website the composition of the Ukrainian national team delegation, which will go to the play-off match for Euro 2024 with Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the UAF later stated that this was only a preliminary list, not the final one.
