"Monza responded well to Genoa's return goal and in the 80th minute D. Maldini scored, giving the visitors back the lead. Despite the late substitutions of both teams: S. Sabelli was replaced by C. Ecuban for Genoa and M. Pessina by J. Machina for Monza. Machina for Monza, the score remained 3-2 in Monza's favour until the final whistle. Overall, it was an exciting match that demonstrated the competitive nature of Serie A football. Both teams showed determination and skill throughout the game, but in the end Monza defeated Genoa in a hard fought 3-2 victory.
