The second half was eventful, with both teams receiving yellow cards and making strategic substitutions in an attempt to turn the game in their favour. M. Arteta and V. Saliba received yellow cards, while Pepe and S. Conceicao of Porto received warnings. When the game went into extra time, the tension only increased.

Both teams tried hard to score and Porto made several substitutions to try and get back into the game. However, it was Arsenal who had the chance to equalise in the final minutes of the match. In the 120th minute, Arsenal were awarded a penalty and K. Havertz converted it to give his team a 1-0 win.
