As previously reported, Ukrainian defender of English Bournemouth Ilya Zabarnyy scored a goal in yesterday's postponed match with Luton (4:3). After the match, the former Dynamo player shared his emotions from the game in an interview with the BBC.
- Ilya, can you tell us about your feelings after such a match?
- Incredible emotions! When you lose 0:3 after the first half, it is hard to pull yourself together and turn the tide. But we have an amazing team, we were able to react quickly. We took into account all the mistakes and in the second half we did everything to win.
- What did the head coach said to you at half-time?
- We lost a few duels, after which the opponent managed to score. This had to be corrected, and we also changed our tactics a bit. In the end, we managed to achieve the task.
- Last Saturday you also had a difficult and similar match...
- The main thing is that we played confidently again - as a team, as a unit. It is important to continue in the same spirit.
- Today you scored your debut goal in APL. How important is it for you?
- Yes, I am very happy, besides, my family was present at the stadium for this game. I don't score often, but I want to do it as often as possible. This is for my family, for my country, because I know that my people are watching me and I am very proud to be part of my country. I wish my people all the best.
- Is this the first time your family has come to visit you?
- My family came here last week for a visit. It's amazing. They loved the APL and it's unbelievable. They were also at the game against Sheffield United. After the match they said they needed more pills as, it's a lot of stress for them.
- And how great that you scored your debut goal today!
- Yes, it's unbelievable!
- After the national team matches, it's a crucial part of the season. Does your team feel safe in terms of keeping their place in the APL?
- Of course, we won't stop. We need to keep playing with confidence and picking up points as we want to be as high as possible. I know the level of this team, I think we can finish the season in the top half of the table.
- You have very important matches in the national team.
- Yes, soon there will be a very important game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. This meeting is important for all Ukrainians. I will do everything I can to help us win and qualify for Euro 2024.
