In the UEFA Europa League match against Freiburg at the London Stadium, West Ham secured an emphatic 2-0 victory at half-time and 5-0 in regulation time. Bowen put the ball in the net, increasing their lead to 2-0. In the second half, Freiburg tried to turn the tide of the match by replacing V. Grifo with M. Gregoric in the 46th minute. However, West Ham continued to persevere and on 52 minutes A. Cresswell scored a goal to further consolidate their advantage. As the match progressed, both teams made several substitutions to try and change the game.
Freiburg made several substitutions, including N. Hofler replacing F. Muslia in the 62nd minute. Despite their efforts, West Ham continued to dominate the match, with M. Kudus scoring goals in the 77th and 85th minutes. With victory all but secured, West Ham made their substitutions in the final minutes of the match. D. Ings and K. Phillips came on in place of M. Kudus and E. Alvarez respectively in the 86th minute, sealing a 5-0 victory for the home side. It was a superb performance by West Ham, showing attacking prowess and defensive resilience throughout the match. On the other hand, Freiburg will have to regroup and analyse their game in order to bounce back in future UEFA Europa League matches.
