"Fenerbahce" may decide to withdraw from the Turkish championship. This informs the official website of the Istanbul club.
Last Sunday, "Fenerbahce" held away match of the national championship against "Trabzonspor". The game ended in an incredible scandal: Trabzonspor fans ran onto the pitch and had a massive scuffle with the opposing team's players.
Some Fenerbahçe players managed to hit the fans several times before they left the pitch. The Turkish Football Federation, in turn, promised to punish Fenerbahce players for such actions.
Now the management of the Istanbul club is considering the possibility of removing the team from the national championship. This issue was brought up at a meeting of the Board of Directors, which was held on 18 March.
It is known that on 2 April, "Fenerbahce" plans to convene an extraordinary general assembly, where it will discuss in detail its future actions. The Istanbul club is demanding security guarantees from the Super League management during future trips to Trabzon.
