According to the results of the draw of the elite round, the blue-and-yellow team got into Group 7 together with the national teams of Switzerland, Northern Macedonia and Latvia. Dmitry Mikhailenko's charges played their opening match against the hosts of the mini-tournament in Macedonian Skopje at FFM Training Centre.
The first half was fought, but with the advantage of our guys. Krevsun made a dangerous header, Gadzhiev and Sinchuk checked the opponents' goalkeeper. And just before the break Krevsun opened the scoring with a shot from a rebound after a corner kick.
Immediately after the break Ponomarenko increased the advantage of the blue and yellow team with an accurate shot from outside the box. Macedonians responded with inaccurate attempts by Nazif and Gergievski. Further moments occurred mostly at the hosts' goal, in particular, Sinchuk and Matkevic checked the keeper.
At the end of the match the Balkans remained in the minority. In such a situation, our team had no problem keeping the advantage - 2:0. The next match Dmitry Mikhailenko's wards will play on 23 March against Latvia.
