Former Brazilian national team player Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in prison for gang rape, which he was involved in in a Milan nightclub in 2013, CNN Brasil reports.

The Italians have made several requests to Brazil to extradite the player to serve his sentence in Italy, but under Brazilian law, such actions are not permitted. However, on 20 March, a Brazilian court ruled that Robinho should serve his sentence in a Brazilian prison.
