Iceland defender Gudmundur Thorarinsson commented on the defeat of his national team from Ukraine (1:2) in the final play-off round of the Euro 2024 qualifying cycle, which took place yesterday in Wroclaw.
"It was difficult for us to control the ball the way the Ukraine national team managed to do. They have a very good team. We did everything right in the first half, but the opponent equalised, managed to get inspired, took control of the game and scored the second goal.
The first goal we conceded? I tried to stop Tsygankov, counting on the help of our other defenders. But it was difficult to stop him. We will have to review and analyse this episode," Icelandic publication DV quoted Thorarinsson as saying.
