Zaglembe Sosnowiec's sporting director Mikhail Zalewski has spoken about the incident at the team's training session. Earlier it was reported that fans beat the team's head coach Oleksandr Khatskevich.
- Tell us how the incident with the club fans started and how it developed.
- We had a training session scheduled for 10am, we went to the field at the base, started working. And at the beginning of 11 fans appeared, about 20 people. They headed across the field to the players who played the previous match. The team at the training session was divided into two groups: those who played and those who did not go on the field. So, I repeat, the fans went to those who played. Aleksandr Nikolaevich, coaches and I saw it and also went to the players. And then there was a mess, the fans were shouting something. Then a few people, the most active, jumped up to the head coach and tried to strike. Nikolaevich blocked the blow of one, but the second one hit him from behind with his hand. They also tried to kick and hit somehow.
- What were the fans shouting?
- They expressed their discontent with the result of the last match. But we were ready to talk, nobody hid their faces, did not refuse to talk. But no, some went into a fight. At the same time, the fans had their faces covered, wearing masks, it is not even possible to determine what age they were.
- The field is not fenced in any way, the fans passed through quite calmly?
- There is a fence, but people still went through. We have already complained to the club that security measures were not provided.
- Didn't the guards come?
- Even after the fans left, we stayed on the field, had a training session. Then someone called the police, but we refused to write a statement. Why? We thought that we should be above it, 20 village fans will not intimidate us.
- Did Khatskievich get hurt a lot?
- I can say this: people who have seen the war in Ukraine will not be scared of 20 fans. But, I repeat, they really hit with their hands, and some of them were sneakily, from behind, they wanted to hit with their feet. But the team stood up for the coach, localised the situation. No one stood aside.
