The UAF Referees Committee has commented on the game episode with a penalty awarded in the Ukrainian Cup match Shakhtar vs Chornomorets.
Photo: shakhtar.com"Player #79 (Chornomorets), while trying to fight with the opponent for the ball, touches the foot of player #7 (Shakhtar) who is already on the ground, this tangential minor contact is quite a normal football action and we prefer to continue the game to avoid "easy" (like this one) penalties. For the previously mentioned reason, when a VAR penalty is awarded, it is not necessary to intervene in this situation, but to continue the game further," reads the text on the official UAF website.
