Five Italian clubs will be able to participate in the next Champions League draw.
According to Gazzetta.it, this became possible after Atalanta and Roma reached the semi-finals of the Europa League, as well as Fiorentina's successful performance in the Conference League, which reached the semi-finals. At the same time, the main competitors of the Italians - English clubs (Liverpool and West Ham) - dropped out of European competitions.
As a result, Italy has already overtaken England in the seasonal rankings in the UEFA coefficient table, and therefore, starting from the 2024/2025 season, two additional places in the tournament will be awarded to the countries that took the top two places in the rankings. These are Italy and Germany. England remains in third place and Spain in fourth.
Interestingly, Italy may even get 6 representatives in the next Champions League if Atalanta or Roma win the Europa League and finish the season outside the top 5 in the Italian league.
