An active World War II bomb has been found in an area adjacent to the stadium of Germany's Mainz, CBS Sports reports.
A statement from the city of Mainz referred to the 1,100-pound U.S. aerial bomb, which is scheduled to be defused today.
According to city officials, an emergency evacuation of about 3,500 people is underway and all roads near the area where the dangerous find was discovered have been blocked off.
The next match at the Mainz stadium is scheduled for next Sunday, when the arena hosts Cologne in the German championship, but the holding of this meeting is not yet in question.
