The Ukrainian football team will be provided with enhanced security during Euro 2024 in Germany. This was announced by German Interior Minister Nancy Feser in an interview with the German newspaper Rheinische Post.
German security agencies will provide enhanced security for the Ukrainian national team during its participation in the European Football Championship to be held in Germany this summer. This was confirmed by German Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Feser in an interview with the Rheinische Post.
At the European Championships, security forces will "protect all teams, fans and guests - and especially, of course, the Ukrainian team: we are doing everything possible to protect them in Germany, and even higher security measures will be in place," Feather said. Against the backdrop of Russia's war against Ukraine, Eastern Europeans are considered extremely vulnerable during the championship, the SID news agency emphasises.
Feather stressed that protecting and combating all "conceivable dangers" is a priority for her agency. "This is one of the biggest football events in the world, which takes place in a particularly tense political situation. This implies many challenges," she said.
As a reminder, Euro 2024 will take place from 14 June to 14 July in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart and Dortmund. Ukraine will play at Euro 2024 in Group E, where its rivals will be Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.
