The legendary president of Porto, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, is stepping down after 42 years of unchanging leadership of the Portuguese giants. He will be succeeded by Andre Villas-Boas. The former Dragons coach won the club's presidential election by a landslide.
Pinto da Costa has been in charge of Porto since 1982, and during this period, the Dragons have won a total of 67 trophies, including the 1987 and 2004 Champions League. Under the leadership of its most successful president, Porto won the UEFA Cup in 2003 and the Europa League in 2011, when Villas-Boas was head coach.
- "Porto belongs to the fans. I want to build a perfectly structured club. We will write history together, do not doubt that," Villas-Boas told the delegates.
