Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski is still hoping to win the Ballon d'Or he deserved in 2020.
- "I had the best years of my career in 2020 and 2021. A friend recently sent me some statistics - I scored 100 goals in 85 games. Of course, I would really like to win the Ballon d'Or one day. It's not that I'm angry or nostalgic because I haven't won the trophy yet. But I feel that in one of these two years it would be my turn.
The one in 2021 belongs to Lionel Messi. I've heard rumours that the 2020 Ballon d'Or may still be awarded late. That year was a great year for me, I was at the highest level, we won everything. Let's put it this way: if I received the Ballon d'Or in four years, I would definitely not be offended - it would be a great honour, I would accept the award," Lewandowski said in an interview with Bild.
It will be recalled that in 2020, France Football decided not to present the Ballon d'Or due to the coronavirus pandemic and the long spring break in world football. Robert Lewandowski had the highest chances of winning the prize at the time.
