Former Dynamo Kyiv footballer and coach, former coach of the Ukrainian national team Mykhaylo Fomenko has died today at the 76th year of his life.

In recent years, Mykhaylo Ivanovych had been fighting cancer.

Fomenko played for Dynamo from 1972 to 1978. As a member of the Bilo-Syni he became the USSR champion three times, twice - the USSR Cup winner, and in 1975 he helped the team to win the Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

In 1993, Fomenko as a coach led Dynamo to the first Ukrainian championship, and later won the Ukrainian Cup with the capital team.

From 2012 to 2016 Fomenko headed the national team of Ukraine, which he led to Euro 2016. After the end of this tournament, Mykhailo Ivanovych finished his coaching career.
