The youth national team of Ukraine (players not older than 2008) completed its first training camp in history with a victory at the UEFA Development Tournament in Estonia.
Yuriy MorozUpon the return of the blue and yellows home, the team's head coach Yuriy Moroz summed up the results of the work done in a comment to the UAF official website.
"The training camp that took place was informative for the coaching staff," said Yuriy Moroz, "The opponents at the UEFA Development Tournament were worthy. We got a lot of positive emotions, because it was the first work of the Ukrainian U-16 national team.
The first game, against Northern Ireland, was the boys' debut, so the excitement prevailed. In addition, the coaching staff had little time to convey all our requirements to the players. Accordingly, there was a lack of chemistry and understanding of the whole process, as the team included representatives of many clubs and a lot of legionnaires. They seem to know each other, but they still had to get along on the football pitch...
That's why the match against the Irish turned out to be a bit of a mess. Although I have no complaints about the martial arts and character of the players, everyone tried their best. Losing, the team ran forward, won back in the last minutes, and a penalty shootout is a lottery.
And in the second and third matches, our players felt the level of the tournament, felt themselves, felt their partners by their side, so confidence came, and with it victories. Although, of course, I was not satisfied with all the halves of my wards' performance. But, again, it was our first time working together. I am grateful to the UAF leadership for organising this training camp, which was very important for the preparation of this national team for the Euro 2025 (U-17) qualifying round," Moroz said.
