On Saturday, 4 May, the matches of the final, 46th round of the Premier League took place. As a result, Ipswich won the last direct ticket to the Premier League.

In the last round, Kieran McKenna's team defeated Huddersfield 2-0 at home. This allowed the Tractor Boys to finish second in the Championship with 96 points and qualify for the elite division.

In the final standings, Ipswich was ahead of Leeds (90 points), which lost to Southampton at home in the last round (1-2).

Leicester won the Premier League ahead of schedule (97 points), being the first to secure promotion and playing in the Premier League next season.

It should be noted that Ipswich returned to the elite division after a 22-year absence. The last time the team played in the EPL was back in the 2001/02 season.

The last, third ticket to the EPL for the next season will be played in the playoffs by the teams that took third to sixth places in the Championship: "Leeds, Southampton, West Bromwich and Norwich.

As a reminder, Sheffield United became the first club to lose its chances of staying in the Premier League for the next season. "Nottingham, Luton and Burnley continue to fight to stay in the top flight - only one of these three teams will be saved from relegation.
