The Argentine FA has announced the death of the outstanding coach Cesar Luis Menotti at the age of 86.
César Luis Menotti, who worked for the Association as the general director of the national teams, was born on 22 October 1938 in Rosario, Santa Fe province, but was registered by his father as born on 5 November.
In his career as a player, he played as a midfielder. As a coach, he won the 1978 FIFA World Cup, leading the Argentine national team, and the 1979 World Youth Championship.
Menotti went down in football history as a coach who contributed to the development of a technical, aesthetic and possession game, where collective, attacking play and skilful ball handling were the axis of his tenets, the source said.
