Today is the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in Ukraine.
Every year, on this day, the entire civilised world remembers the most horrific war in human history - the Second World War - and honours the feat of the Ukrainian people and their contribution to the victory in the Second World War. This day is also dedicated to the memory of those more than 80 million people whose lives were cut short at the front, in concentration camps and bombings, all the innocent victims of the bloodthirsty ideology of Nazism.
We must remember the tragic pages of our history, the suffering that humanity had to endure. We must not forget the heroism of those who defended their homeland with arms, saved the world from Nazi enslavement at the cost of their own lives, and brought victory and peace to the people.
Just as in the Second World War, the fate of freedom is now being decided on the battlefield. Ukraine is fighting tyranny on the part of the Russian aggressor and must overcome it. Even this morning's enemy attack has once again proved that Russia is a manifestation of criminal Nazism, and through its actions it is trying to destroy everything associated with Ukraine.
But despite this, we will certainly win, because we are defending our homeland and protecting our right to freely choose our future. Let the victory over the current evil of racism be the best tribute to those who fought and defeated Nazism.
The words "Never again!", which the whole world remembers on this day, resonate in Ukraine in a special way. We not only remember, but also protect, not only value life, but also do everything to ensure that evil loses. We honour and do not forget those who gave their lives for peace and freedom, and we continue to create the history of a united and independent Ukraine.
