Messi became the first player in the 21st century to score 1250 goals

Inter Miami and Argentina striker Lionel Messi became the first footballer in the 21st century to score 1,250 points in the goal+assist system.

In his last match for Inter Miami, 36-year-old Messi scored one goal and recorded five assists in a game against the New York Red Bulls. The meeting between the teams ended with a score of 6-2 in favour of Gerardo Martino's men. In this game, Messi scored the 1,250th goal of his football career.

In total, Messi has played 1,080 matches in his career, scoring 839 goals and providing 411 assists.
