After his team's semi-final loss to Real Madrid, Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl said that the match's chief referee, Szymon Marciniak, admitted his mistake when he cancelled De Licht's second goal.
"There is nothing to explain. How many years has VAR existed? How many years has this offside rule existed? For me, it's very strange and questionable. He blew the whistle and no video assistant could intervene because it was in front of the goal. The referee said it was his mistake, but we don't care about that anymore. It's a mistake," Eberl said.
The official also stressed that in the final match of the tournament, the Munich club will support Borussia Dortmund.
"A German final? Everyone would like that, but only the Polish referees were against it. That's why I, all of us at the club, will support Borussia in the final," Eberl was quoted as saying by Sky Sport.
