Dynamo Kyiv defender Denys Popov has shared his expectations for the home match against Kryvbas in the 29th round of the Ukrainian championship, which will take place tomorrow in the capital.
- Indeed, the standings will no longer be under pressure, but we will be playing the last match in front of our fans, so we need to show a good game and achieve a result.
- Often in matches there is a rotation in the centre of defence, your partners change. Does it make a difference who plays alongside you?
- In principle, there is no difference. Whoever performs better in training gets to play on the pitch. The main thing is to have a zero behind, and it doesn't matter who plays. I want to concede as few goals as possible, but this is football, which consists of goals scored and conceded.
- How would you assess the second part of the season for our team?
- Of course, the microclimate has improved, including thanks to the successful series we had. But, as you can see, it was not enough - we lost points in the first and second matches, and in the end we were unable to win the championship. We need to accept this and move forward, not give up and try to become champions next season.
This season, the main thing is to play the final matches of the season without injuries, especially for the national teams that are going to Euro 2024, where they need to perform well.
As for me, I will work hard and do my best, and if the choice falls on me, I am always ready. The main thing is that my health does not fail me.
- What can we expect from the Ukrainian national team at Euro 2024?
- At the very least, to get out of the group, and then set tasks from game to game. Our national team has potential, with many players playing abroad in top championships. This is a plus for the team, we need as many players as possible to go abroad, grow professionally and glorify Ukraine in the international arena.
