Steaua Bucharest general manager Mihai Stoica has revealed what he thinks about the Romanian national team's prospects at Euro 2024, where its group opponents will be Ukraine, Belgium and Slovakia.
"Counting on the fact that we will manage to win the matches against Ukraine and Belgium is very difficult. So the Romanian head coach should think about a competent defensive game in these matches. Against such opponents we will simply have to play more defensive football than offensive.
I have seen the last two matches of the Ukraine national team in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, and I can say that they looked unconvincing in those games. But even if we can imagine a draw with Ukraine, we won't stand much of a chance against Belgium - their midfield is overwhelming. I think we should try to get four points in the group. This should be enough to qualify for the play-offs," Gazeta Sporturilor quoted Stoica as saying.
