Head coach of the Ukraine national team Serhiy Rebrov commented on the start of preparation of the national team for Euro 2024 on the air of the UAF Youtube channel.
Sergei Rebrov- Now our primary task is to prepare properly for Euro 2024, because everyone expects a lot from us. Before the first training session, I thanked the guys for what they have done, and they have done a lot. But now we need to forget about all this and really represent Ukraine well at the Euro.
- The players of your team had different time to rest after the end of the club season. Will itbe difficult to restore the balance in their conditioning?
- I think the break was short. And the players really needed it, because the season was very intense. Dynamo and Shakhtar players have been playing 2-3 matches a week for the last three months - it is very hard. They also fought for the championship in these conditions. But they had some rest and now they are preparing for the European Championship with a good mood.
- Mikolenko and Sudakov trained today on an individual programme. How are they doing with their health?
- I hope, a day or two - and they will be in the general group. I want to believe that we won`t have any other injuries at this training camp.
- In June it will be exactly one year since you took charge of the Ukraine national team. Do you remember your first match as a coach of the national team, against Germany (friendly, 3:3)?
- Yes, I remember all the matches of the national team. It is a big responsibility. That first match was interesting. And in it we got such an important confidence in our abilities.
- Has the Ukraine national team changed a lot this year?
- I do not know. It is difficult for me to compare. Because I have not worked in the national team before. I am interested in working with these players, and they, for their part, also show interest in our work, which I hope we enjoy together.
