Former Ukrainian midfielder Ihor Khudobiak commented on the composition of the Ukrainian Olympic team for the Games in Paris.
- The team for the Olympics could have been much better, and I'm a little disappointed because Ukraine is now defending itself against Russia, and the best team, which is recognized in the world, could have been called up for the Olympic Games, which everyone loves. Our football team qualified for the first time. We must popularize Ukraine in the world so that everyone supports us in the war against Russia.
The leaders of this national team will be experienced players - Danylo Sikan, who played and scored in the Champions League, and Maksym Taloverov, who played at Euro 2024. They should lead the Olympic team. It is a pity that Benfica did not let Anatoly Trubin go. It would have been very good for the Ukrainian national team. I don't know why it happens that some players, like Otamendi, are released, while others are not. I think we should ask Trubin about this.
It's a pity that some players had the opportunity to go, but they are not going. These are good players who would have represented Ukraine at such a prestigious tournament as the Olympics. They would have remembered it for the rest of their lives. It seems to me that the players themselves should have insisted on this more, because this is a very serious story for our sport," said Igor.
