Nazar Balaba, captain of Dynamo's youth team, will miss the 2024 U-19 European Championship.
Balaba suffered a knee injury while preparing for the tournament in Poland. According to optimistic forecasts, he will be out for 3 weeks. The worst-case scenario is a torn cruciate ligament and lengthy rehabilitation.
At the Euros, Balaba will be replaced by Werder's youth team defender Ivan Yermachkov, who has already arrived at the national team camp in Poland. Also, Karpaty winger Oleksandr Fetko left the national team due to injury, but it was decided not to call anyone else up instead.
On July 15, the Ukrainian national team will start at the youth Euro with a match against Northern Ireland. Dmytro Mykhaylenko's team will also face Italy and Norway.
