The new European Cup season 2024-2025 has already started in early July. On the eve of its start, UEFA updated the club rankings, which are based on the last five years of performances.
Ukrainian teams found out their places in the new club coefficient table. Shakhtar Donetsk suffered a serious drop in the rankings, with the successful 2019-2020 season being "zeroed out".
The new table takes into account data only from the 2020-2021 season until the end of the current 2024-2025 season. In the updated rankings, Ukrainian clubs have significantly lost ground. Most striking is the fall of Shakhtar, who finished last season in 26th place. Now the Pitmen are 40th. The main reason for this is the cancellation of points for the 2019-2020 season, when the Donetsk team reached the semifinals of the Europa League.
Dynamo Kyiv also dropped four places, from 68th to 72nd. Luhansk's Zorya remained 87th, but the White and Blacks will miss the current European season.
