Euro 2024 ended with the final match in Berlin, where Spain defeated England 2-1. It's time to look back and summarize the results of an unforgettable month.
0 Belgium played eight matches in the UEFA EURO playoffs and never played in overtime.
1 Group E saw two historic events for UEFA EURO: Romania topped the group for the first time and Ukraine drew for the first time. Denmark, meanwhile, qualified from the group for the first time in two consecutive matches, while Slovenia and Georgia made it to the playoffs for the first time. Continuing the "first time" story, we should also mention Spain, which did not concede a single goal in the group, and England, which has never before reached the finals at a tournament that was not held in the birthplace of soccer. In doing so, the English became the first finalist to have to bounce back in the 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 finals.
2 When Portuguese Francisco Conceição struck the goal of the Czech Republic national team, the special club of fathers and sons expanded. His father Sergio Conceição scored at EURO 2000. Only Italians can boast a similar father-son duo: Enrico Chiesa scored in 1996, Federico Chiesa scored at UEFA EURO 2020.
3 Diogo Costa became the hero of the penalty shootout in the match 1/8 finals between Portugal and Slovenia. The Portuguese deflected all three shots, which has never happened before in the history of the UEFA EURO. At the same time, the reigning European champions fell out of the tournament on penalty shootout for the third time in a row: Italy in 2024, Portugal in 2020 and Spain in 2016. Gareth Southgate became the third coach to reach the UEFA EURO finals twice. Helmut Schön and Berti Vogts did it before him.
4 Spain became the first country to win the tournament four times. In addition, the fate of four of the five UEFA EURO quarterfinals involving England was decided in a penalty shootout. Switzerland played five matches in the playoffs and four times took 11-match penalty kicks.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane became the fifth player to score in more than one EURO semi-final. Valentin Ivanov, Viktor Monday, Dragan Djajic and Cristiano Ronaldo have done it before him.
6 Ronaldo became the first player to play in six EUROs. Ronaldo updated his record for the number of matches in the final stages of the EURO (30) and became the oldest author of the realized penalty in the penalty shootout (39 years and 151 days). However, the Portuguese failed to update his record for goals at the UEFA EURO (14), which means that Switzerland's Xherdan Shaqiri remains the only European to score in six consecutive major tournaments.
7 Spain became the first team to have seven game-time victories at a single EURO.
8 Spain and Italy played each other at the EURO for a record eighth time. These teams met for the fifth consecutive final stage. Germany won the opening match of a UEFA EURO for a record eighth time.

Meanwhile, the French have never conceded in their opening group stage matches at the EURO (H7 H3). Nine of Mikel Oyarzabal's 12 goals for Spain have been scored after coming on as a substitute, including the winning goal in the UEFA EURO 2024 final.
11 Italy have not conceded in the first half of a UEFA EURO group stage since 2008. The streak of 11 matches was broken by Albania.
