Former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder and captain Serhiy Sydorchuk, who now plays for Belgian side Westerlo, dedicated a post on Instagram to today's Coach's Day.
"In this photo, coach Volodymyr Ivanovych Onyshchenko is telling me: "You don't need to play along with football. You need to play! You need to play more". At that time, I was afraid to make a mistake and tried to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible.
I will also always remember the words of Mykhailo Fomenko: "Football is a game of time and space". This approach generally changes and expands football thinking.
All the coaches I have worked with and am working with now have their own specifics that bring their own results. It's about the game model and off-field discipline. Everyone can be quoted. I learned a lot from each of them and I am grateful for that.
Coaching decisions are above all, they must be respected, even when you disagree. Many of them may not become clear immediately, but later, when you look at the team and the game from a different angle.
Today is Coach's Day in Ukraine. Congratulate your coaches who lead you to your personal victories and contribute to your sports development," Sergiy wrote.
