Head coach of the Ukrainian Olympic team Ruslan Rotan summarized the team's training camp ahead of the 2024 Games in France.
- "Today, several players have minor injuries, but I believe they are insignificant. They do not call into question the guys' ability to play. I think everyone is ready. But there is another point, a little more complicated. Over the past two days, only Oleksiy Sych and Arseniy Batagov have joined us. We have to assess their condition, both physical and emotional, and make a decision. We have already talked to them, and everything is fine with communication.
We cannot say whether we are satisfied with the results of the friendly matches or not. We were preparing for the Olympic Games, not trying to win anything. Of course, we always want to win, but there are a lot of nuances that the coaching staff must pay attention to.
In fact, it was the second training camp for this team. And it is at the training camp that the guys work on their chemistry. Already at the tournament in Marseille, I realized that these are the performers who will compete at the Olympic Games. As a coach, I felt that many players would not be released by their clubs.
But two players who were not there joined us. This is also a process of adaptation. It's good that we played those two matches to balance the players who were in different functional states as best we could. The tournament will show how we did it," Rotan said.
