Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Vladyslav Kabaev commented on the victory of his team over Partizan Belgrade (6:2) in the first match of the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League, which took place yesterday in Lublin.
Vladislav Kabaev- Emotions subsided right after the final whistle, because when we went on the pitch, we knew who we were playing against: this country and this club support the war against Ukraine. I think the fans saw with what eyes we came out for this match, and that we gave everything we could on the field.
We scored the third goal, the fourth, but still we did not stop, we pressed, we wanted to give emotions to our fans, to all the defenders of our country, to create some positivity for them.
- The first game of the season, and immediately 6:2!
- Yes, it couldn't be better. But we had a good training camp. At the same time, I repeat, the factor of the fact that our opponent is a team from Serbia played an important role. I can say for myself: I went out on the field today very angry! It didn`t matter who would score, the goal was to win at any cost. If only we had not conceded, it would have been good. So there is still something to work on.
- How much did the first conceded goal affect the team?
- The game was going our way. Yes, we conceded that goal with a penalty, but before that we had chances. We pressed, we controlled the ball more than the opponent. So even after the missed goal I had no doubts in myself or in the team, I was sure that we would get back.
And when we scored the first goal, despite the fact that there were a few minutes left before the break, we turned each other on, so that the team did not stop. "Partizan" in that segment of the game "swam", and the situation was like in a boxing ring: if someone "swam", the second one should finish him off. So we tried to score as much as possible. We succeeded.
In the second half we played a little more on the score, we gave the ball to the opponent. 6:2 - a very good result, but there is still the return match. The game will show everything. Now I want to say a little more words, but I will do it after the second game with Partizan.
