UEFA has appointed referees for the return match of the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League between Partizan Belgrade and Dynamo Kyiv, which will take place on July 31 in the Serbian capital.
Marian BarbuAll referees represent Romania. The referee in the field is Marian Barbu. On the lines he will be assisted by Mihai Marica and Imre Buci. The fourth referee: Sebastian Colcescu.
As for the head referee of the upcoming match, the 35-year-old Barbu has been officiating international matches since 2021, and he is not yet experienced: he has worked in 28 such matches (in total at the club level and at the national team level in competitions of all age categories).
This Romanian referee has never officiated matches involving Dynamo, but in the season 2022/23 he officiated the match of the group stage of the Conference League between Vaduz and Dnipro-1 (1:2).
In addition, in the spring of 2022, Barbu was the chief referee of the qualifying match of Euro-2022 Ukraine (U-17) - Italy (U-17) (1-3).
Barbu can be called quite a loyal referee: he shows an average of 4 yellow cards per match, and he resorts to direct penalties in about every 12th match.
