Former England coach Gareth Southgate may become an expert on television, the Daily Mail reports.
The BBC plans to invite a coach to replace Ian Wright, who is leaving the channel. If Southgate accepts the offer, he will have to work in tandem with Gary Lineker, who spoke extremely harshly about the specialist's work.
"Gareth is eloquent, charming and popular with viewers. People will want to listen to what he has to say. When he and Lineker are in the studio, it will be something incredible," a BBC source said.
It should be noted that Southgate has previously worked on TV after leaving Middlesbrough in 2009.
