Next season, 18-year-old Oleksandr Shevchenko is likely to play for Dynamo Kyiv's youth team. He is currently working with the team and has participated in a friendly tournament in the Czech Republic.
Shevchenko plays as a winger. The other day, it was reported that Vladyslav Kalyn, a player of this role and Oleksandr's peer, went to Chornomorets for a viewing. It becomes obvious that there will be a new player on the midfield flank.
It first became known about Shevchenko 4 years ago. In August 2020, agent Maksym Karagodin wrote on his social media about Oleksandr's transfer from Shakhtar Academy to Dynamo. Back then, Shevchenko played as a striker. Sashko was quite successful with the Miners. He was recognized as the best player in the then-popular Minsk Cup tournament. He played and scored at the USFL level for his age.
Oleksandr is a native of the city of Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region. Shakhtar have a very good selection and scouting system in that region.
In Kyiv, Shevchenko did not take root at first. He spent the 2022/23 season at Zorya (in 2006, Dynamo transferred him and his coaches to the Luhansk youth team). Last season he played on loan for Vorskla's youth team. He played 27 matches for the Poltava team and scored 4 goals. Including two goals against Shakhtar.
Oleksandr Shevchenko is fast and technical. Most importantly, he has experience behind him. He has already spent two years at the youth championship level. While his first season at Zorya was a formal one, he played steadily at Vorskla.
Dynamo's youth team needs 4 wingers for the season. Players from 2005, Andriy Matkevych and Dmytro Kremchanin, are still in the lineup. Plus, Kyrylo Pashko is a year younger. The league, the UEFA Youth League, national teams, injuries, downturns in form, disqualifications - we need rotation and depth in the squad. There was talk about Denys Zhdanov from Dnipro-1, but so far there is no information other than rumors.
I personally feel a little sorry that there was no place for Kalin. 2006 is a very talented year in Dynamo's structure. There are hopes that 3-5 players will be able to reach the first team: goalkeeper Viacheslav Surkis, defenders Maksym Korobov, Vladyslav Zakharchenko, midfielders Danylo Ishchenko, Kyrylo Osypenko, and David Bilyi. There were three in the attack - Kyrylo Pashko, Matviy Ponomarenko and Vlad Kalyn. The first two have already been involved in the first team. Kalyn played for the U-19 last season. He played 22 matches (rotation player). He scored 2 goals in 16 matches. He was a bit hampered by injuries. Now the main thing for him is to play constantly. I hope that there will be no problems with this in Odesa.
