Former Ukrainian national team player Yuriy Shelepnytsky spoke about his expectations for the match between Dynamo Kyiv and Scottish Rangers in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League.

Yuriy Shelepnytsky

"If we want to go further in this Champions League, we need to forget the matches with Partizan. Dynamo had to set themselves up like this after the first match with the Serbs, when everything became clear. Both the Dynamo coaching staff and players had to actively study Rangers. The Ukrainian national team had already been burned so badly when, after the victory over Moldova, they thought of throwing hats at the Romanian national team... It will not be easy with the British - we should expect a fight from the first to the last minute, without pauses and respite.

"Dynamo recruited well in the offseason, having soberly calculated their strength in the transfer market. Bringing legionnaires here in time of war is too expensive and troublesome. In addition, Kyiv have brought their youngsters to the base - very high-quality performers who will soon have to replace two or three first-team players. I think they will try not to overstay their welcome at Dynamo and sell them abroad in time.

"The White and Blues need to keep the same charge that they had against the Serbs. The reasons were different, but success in the confrontation with the Scots is no less important. We need to finally move on to the group stage of the Champions League, stop stopping at qualifying. The only worrying thing is that Dynamo's youngsters are sometimes not fully developed, especially in defense. And yet, we need to make up our minds: we don't need beauty, and we don't need a 6-2 or 3-0 score either. I'm sure we'll all be quite satisfied with two 1-0 victories in our favor. This, of course, is the ideal option. In Glasgow, we can just finish the game dry," Shelepnytsky said.
