In this position, the 79-year-old specialist replaced Edward Iordanescu, who left the Romanian national team immediately after Euro 2024 due to the end of his contract.
Lucescu signed a contract for 2 years and set two tasks - the maximum result in the Nations League and the output of the Romanian national team in the final part of the World Cup-2026.
It should be reminded that Lucescu has been out of work since the beginning of November last year, when he left the post of Dinamo head coach.
