Mark Assinore, a forward for LNZ Cherkasy, told us how he agreed to move to the Ukrainian championship during the war.
- I know it's a difficult moment. I talked to Soares, who went to LNZ six months before me, and my agent, my family. I got a lot of advice on how to be careful. I also talked to people who know the whole situation in Ukraine. They said: 'Mark, you can come here. I know that the UPL was the top league before the war. Everybody knows Dynamo, Shakhtar, Dnipro as regular participants in European competitions. I believe that this is a challenge from God for me, and I have a great opportunity. It was not a difficult decision for me.
There are several things I can single out in Ukraine. Large stadiums, training fields, professionalism, and the way clubs are developing compared to Slovakia and Poland. I have seen from my own experience that Ukraine has everything to be a top championship, if not for the war.
Is it easy to communicate with Ukrainian players? Some guys speak English, but communication is not widespread. This is not a problem, because we manage to interact well on the football field. The head coach gets along with us without any problems, and the club's management also speaks English. This all positively contributes to my integration into the team," Assinore said in an interview withUkrainian Football.
